Don Merckle & Friends take over the Tin Roof
Don Merckle & Friends take the stage at the Tin Roof in West Ashley at 9 p.m. April 29. Merckle will be performing his dark blend of garage, folk and Americana with a few friends in tow. The show marks the return of Arleigh Hertzler of The Defilers, along with a sweet cosmic country outfit featuring the likes of Jason Brachman of Jason & the Juggernauts, John Picard and Ripley & the Ghost. Special guests include banjo player Chris Lawther and bassist/tuba player Todd Edmunds. Tickets are $10 cash at the door.

VeraNation presents an art and music event called Empath-Tea 5-7 p.m. April 30 at Blūm Cafe downtown. The event features new-age soul duo, hip-hop artist Küf Knotz and harpist Christine Elise, with special guest spoken-word artist Christian Morant. The poetic hop/harp live painting experience includes a “personali-tea” session in which guests match their personality to tea blends, community window painting, personal portraits by artist Kiana, body art, games and live painting by Michelle Hopler. 2023 Lowcountry Cajun Festival returns
Get ready for a good time with delicious food and live music at the Lowcountry Cajun Festival 12-6 p.m. on April 22 at James Island County Park. Experience the best of Louisiana cuisine right here at home with dishes such as jambalaya, alligator, etouffee, andouille sausage and, of course, crawfish. Free outdoor concert lands at The Refinery
Ohm Radio and Charleston Symphony present “Brass on the Grass,” a family-friendly free outdoor concert to benefit the Ohm Radio, Charleston’s first commercial-free, community-focused radio station. The show is at The Refinery 3:30-5:30 p.m. April 30 featuring a brass sextet playing classics from the Great American Songbook. Musicians featured include bass trombonist Tom Joyce, trumpeter Kyle Lane, percussionist Ryan Leveille, trombonist Chris Lindgren, trumpeter Antonio Marti and horn player Brandon Nichols.
